Idols choir week takes on Queen classic

Johannesburg - Hits from Queen, Bill Withers and R. Kelly will feature in this week's Idols spectacular.

The choir-themed show takes place on Friday August 26 at the Mosaïek Teatro at 19:00 and will open with a performance by James Blunt.

The British singer-songwriter is currently performing in the country on his Some Kind of Trouble tour. He performed at the ICC Durban on August 24 and will perform at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on Friday.

On Tuesday the judges used their one and only save to keep Kelly Fortuin in the competition and she will thus perform with the other seven contestants in the choir week spectacular.

The songs to be performed with the Mzansi Youth Choir are as follows:

Crushanda Forbes: I Believe I Can Fly from R. Kelly

Dave van Vuuren: Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Dené Vorster: Jackie Wilson's Higher And Higher

Erin Fourie: Put A Little Love In Your Heart by Jackie DeShannon

Freddie Van Dango: Cee Lo Green's Forget You

Kelly Fortuin: Aretha Franklin and George Michael's I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me).

Mark Haze: Queen's Somebody To Love

Lefa Pike: Lean On Me by Bill Withers

The guest judge will be American R&B star Chanté Moore.

Idols airs on M-Net (101) and Mzansi Magic (107) on Sundays at 17:30.
