Idols judges make their save

Johannesburg - The Idols judges have saved Kelly Fortuin.

The 21-year-old mother from Cape Town received the lowest number of viewer votes after her rendition of Michael Jackson's Rock With You on Sunday.

Kelly was joined in the bottom three by Dene Vorster and Crushanda Forbes.

Just seconds into performing for the judges to garner their save vote, Gareth Cliff stopped Kelly and the band to announce that they would save her from elimination.

This week's Top 8 save means that two contestants will be eliminated on Tuesday August 30.

The Top 8 Idols will perform with James Blunt in Friday's spectacular, due to air on Sunday August 28.

Meanwhile, contestant Freddie Van'Dango appeared on stage with a swollen face after being involved in a brawl on August 20. He has been declared fit to continue on in the competition, while M-Net has reprimanded him for his behaviour. The incident occurred outside a bar in Johannesburg where Freddie had been drinking with friends.

Idols airs on M-Net (DStv 101) and Mzansi Magic (107) on Sundays at 17:30.
