Johannesburg - The Capetonian opera singer has won the second season of South Africa's widest talent search.
James Bhemgee choked up on stage at Thursday night's finale as it was announced that he had received the most votes, making him the recipient of the R250 000 grand prize.
The SA's Got Talent finale saw the six semi-finalists perform for the public's votes. Judges Ian von Memerty, Shado Twala and Randall Abrahams had no impact on the outcome of the final voting round.
The frontrunners in the competition all hail from Cape Town. Police constable Madalene Abrahams was placed second while Limited Edition Drum Corps ranked third in terms of votes.
Niyaaz Arendse, Tembisa Revolution and Peace All The Time Acrobats were placed in the bottom three.
James Bhemgee was once a street sweeper before he was invited to take lessons and eventually travel the world with his talent. He now lives in Rocklands in Cape Town.
