Los Angeles - Justin Bieber has landed a cameo role on The Simpsons.

The 18-year-old singer will make a brief appearance on an upcoming episode of the hit cartoon comedy called "The Fabulous Baker Boy" as a talent show hopeful who fails to make the cut.

Al Jean, the show's executive producer, told Entertainment Weekly: "He tries to get into a talent show that Bart is playing piano in and they won't admit him. Draw your own conclusions.

"It's a cameo. But all of his fans should watch every minute of the show, before and after he's on."

'I hope to do some more acting'

The Boyfriend singer shared the news with his fans on Twitter on Tuesday, posting: "Just did a voice over for the SIMPSONS!!! #swaggy (sic)"

However, the tweet has since been deleted.

It seems the teen idol's wish has been granted after Justin expressed his desire to experiment with acting.

The pop star recently said: "I hope to do some more acting. I have only done a few things like CSI, but I really want to do some more acting."

Justin briefly appeared as an alien in Men In Black 3 and will play the lead in Mark Wahlberg's upcoming basketball movie.

Justin's episode will air in 2013 as part of the long-running show's 24th season.
