Lifetime teases with first look at singer Aaliyah's movie

Los Angeles - A teaser trailer for the biopic of late R&B singer Aaliyah has been released by the American TV network, Lifetime, which recently launched in South Africa on DStv.

Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B features actress Alexandra Shipp as Aaliyah. The biopic will chronicle the singers life, music and her tragic death in 2001 in a plane crash on her way back to the States from the Bahamas where she was filming a video for her hit song Rock the Boat.

Other faces to be seen in this Lifetime TV movie are Jackie Long as R Kelly, who was Aaliyah's love interest at some point. Elise Neal as Gladys Knight, Chattrisse Dolabaille as Missy Elliott, and Izaak Smith as Timbaland.
