M-Net's The Wild in new timeslot

Cape Town – M-Net is moving its local soap The Wild to a new timeslot 10 months after it started, in a bid to try and lure more viewers.

The Wild is set to undergo a big timeslot change, moving from its current 18:00 timeslot to an hour later at 19:00 from Monday January 16 in a move that will possibly attract more viewers, followed by a soap wedding a few days later.

This time change will also be seen in sister channel Mzansi Magic (DStv 107), and comes as Mzansi Magic is readying its own new local soap entitled Matchbox (working title), as well as a telenovella called Desire (working title).

The latest weekly viewership numbers peg one episode of The Wild at the 9th place on M-Net's top 10 most watched shows for the week, much lower than M-Net's previous soapie Egoli which held the number one and two spot for years.

The timeslot change means that from January 16 The Wild will be competing against news bulletins on SABC2, SABC3 and e.tv at 19:00.

M-Net has not officially addressed the reasons for the timeslot move yet.
