MasterChef SA Top 18 revealed

Cape Town - Ready, set, braai!

The third episode of M-Net's local reality cooking show saw 25 hopefuls attempt to master the coals in order to make it through to the MasterChef SA kitchen at Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl.

Only 18 of the 25 contestants would make the cut.

The 45-minute braai challenge took place at Roots restaurant at the Cradle of Humankind.

Many contestants braaied red meat or seafood, while Khayakazi Silingile and Thys Hattingh attempted desserts.

Quirky contestant Jade de Waal impressed with her pap while Bongumusa disappointed with his, with judge Andrew Atkinson describing it as "baby food".

Natalie Turnbull admitted to this challenge being the first time she had ever braaied.

The following contestants will be competing in the next episode, due to air on M-Net on Tuesday 11 April at 19:30:
