Johannesburg - M-Net viewers will be able to watch the Masterchef contestants cook it out not once but twice a week with a Tuesday and Wednesday slot at 19:30 for the second season of the popular reality show.
Lani Lombard, M-Net's Head of Communications, believes that this season will repeat the success of the previous year. "The first season of MasterChef South Africa definitely inspired amateur chefs to get more creative. We noticed very early on during the audition phase that the contestants' standard of cooking was significantly higher this year and because of that, the show provides pressure-cooker entertainment right from the start."
Lombard also believes that the show's popularity can be attributed to the way that food can bring people from diverse backgrounds and cultures together, especially in a country as diverse as South Africa.
Andrew Atkinson, Benny Masekwameng and Pete Goffe-Wood will be returning as the show’s judges and the prizes include a R400 000 cash prize, a new VW Golf 7, a holiday to the Seychelles and much more.
The first episode of MasterChef South Africa will air on M-Net on Tuesday 11 June at 19:30. For more information and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage visit www.mnet.co.za.
