Los Angeles - Modern Family's stars are outstanding.
The comedy series has scored six acting nominations ahead of the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards to be held on September 18.
The nominations were announced on Thursday by Fringe star Joshua Jackson and Mike & Molly actress Melissa McCarthy, who scored a Lead Actress nomination.
Sofia Vergara (Gloria) and Julie Bowen (Claire) were nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actresses in A Comedy Series for their roles in Modern Family while four of the male cast members were nominated in the Oustanding Supporting Actor in A Comedy Series category.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell), Eric Stonestreet (Cameron), Ed O'Neill (Jay) and Ty Burrell (Phil) will go head to head for the Emmy.
Modern Family season 2 currently airs on M-Net (DStv channel 101) on Wednesdays at 19:30.
