New Dallas series to air on M-Net

Cape Town - South African viewers can look forward to new episodes of Dallas as of August.

M-Net has announced that the new Dallas, a revamped continuation of the 80s series about an oil baron and his family, will air on the pay TV channel as of 28 August.

While the revamped show features many of the original cast members, including Larry Hagman as protagonist JR Ewing and Patrick Duffy as Bobby, the new show also introduces a younger generation at Southfork.

Desperate Housewives' Jesse Metcalfe joins the cast as Christopher, Bobby Ewing's adopted son who hopes to introduce alternative energy to the family business.

JR's son John Ross, played by Josh Henderson, is ambitious and determined. He is seeing Elena (played by The Fast and the Furious' Jordana Brewster) and the pair have plans to marry.

Executive producer Cynthia Cidre said she aimed to make this Dallas revamp "a smart, passionate family drama told on an epic scale."

M-Net's Lani Lombard is excited about the addition of this show to the channel's line-up, saying: "If you're old enough to remember Bobby's miraculous resurrection in that famous shower scene or tried to answer the question 'Who shot JR?', you'll understand why it's such big news to have Dallas back.

"This new version, adapted to suit modern audiences, is bound to attract many viewers and create brand new Dallas fans."

Dallas will premiere on M-Net and M-Net HD at 21:00 on Tuesday 28 August 2012.
