Cape Town – Last night was D-Day for the Idols contestants.
The Top 10 had their fate decided at the Pretoria State Theatre by the public and the judges.
The contestants are already winners by just getting into the top 10. Have you seen the sweet prize package?
This year the contestants each receive R10 000 cash just for making it through to the Top 10 and goodies worth R45 000.
A new Idols SA record for this phase of the competition was set, with well over 3 million votes cast for the Top 16.
First up were the guys who opened with a soulful rendition of Wiz Khalifa’s, See You Again.
The guys who received the most votes are: Karabo Mogane, Loyiso Gijana, Rhema Varrie and Siphelele Ngcobo.
Next up were the ladies who did an average performance of Echosmith’s, Cool Kids.
The girls voted for by the public are: Amanda Antony, Elwira Standili, Mmatema Moremi and Dineo Moseki.
With two more spots in the top 10 it was up to the judges to make the final call.
Nadia Herbst and Lungisa Xhamela were saved and will have the opportunity to win over voters with their second chance.
Here’s what viewers had to say on social media:
