Oprah's new talk show coming to SA

Cape Town – Oprah Winfrey's new and very successful weekly talk show in America, Oprah's Next Chapter, is finally coming to South Africa on 26 November when her upcoming interview with popstar Justin Bieber will be seen on TopTV and DStv on the TLC channel.

Oprah's Next Chapter which is broadcast on Sundays on OWN in America, is going global with an upcoming episode which will be shown in 100 countries around the world, including South Africa on TLC (TopTV channel 453 and DStv channel 172).

South African TV viewers' first glimpse of Oprah's new talk show which is very much like her popular daytime talk show which she ended last year, will happen just a day after it is shown in America. Europe will see it on 27 November.

It comes on the heels of last month's Winfrey special TV documentary going inside her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls near Henley-on-Klip which was broadcast in South Africa on TLC before it was shown on her OWN TV channel in the United States.

Biggest exclusives

While Oprah's new talk show is doing incredibly well on OWN in the US, neither SABC3, M-Net, Top One, TLC nor any other broadcaster in South Africa has tried to secure it for local viewers.

In June the Associated Press posed the question: Who is filling Oprah's shoes and getting all the big must-see "gets" now that her long-running daytime talk show is no longer on the air. The answer was... Oprah, still.

From the Kasdashians, to 50 Cent, Michael Jackson's daughter Paris to Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina, and a broad range of celebrities, Oprah still  snags the biggest, most exclusive and sit-down interviews first, in addition to running her TV channel.

The only difference is that the interviews now happen on location and is no longer taking place in a studio in front of a live studio audience.

Winfrey attended Bieber's concert

Now South African viewers will be exposed to Oprah's Next Chapter, though it will only be for one episode.

Discovery, as a co-owner in Oprah Winfrey's OWN, is going to air the 25 November episode of Oprah's Next Chapter worldwide after a deal with Discovery Networks International to use its TLC channel to broadcast the episode.

For the Justin Bieber interview, Winfrey attended Bieber's concert at All-State Arena in Rosemont, Illinois earlier this week before chatting to him at the RL Restaurant in Chicago.

Bieber talks about the pitfalls of fame and living in the spotlight after which they go shopping at the Ralph Lauren store in Chicago.

Bieber then surprises thousands of curious onlookers with an impromptu acoustic performance.
