Russell Brand's TV show gets 2nd series

Los Angeles - Russell Brand's TV show has been commissioned for a second series.

Brand X, which is shown on the FX channel in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK, sees the comedian take an irreverent swipe at the world and bosses have paid him £125 000 to make new episodes.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Russell had a tough time of it in recent months but TV audiences still like watching him in the US.

"He had already announced that he wanted to focus on comedy instead of films, so this will have come as welcome news to him."

Despite wanting to focus on his comedy, Russell recently entered into negotiations for a role in Larry Charles' Pierre Pierre, a film about a man who embarks on an obstacle-filled journey from Paris to London where he is transporting a stolen painting.

The movie would see Russell - whose divorce from Katy Perry was finalised earlier this month - stumble upon a serial killer named Pigeonshit, a French policeman and his own brothel-owning mother in the politically incorrect road movie.
