SA-born Dean Geyer lands Glee role

Cape Town – South African-born singer-actor Dean Geyer has landed a role on the hit US television show Glee, reports iafrica.

Geyer will make his debut appearance in the fourth season as Brody Weston, a scholar at NYADA, the arts school where Lea Michele's character Rachel studies after graduating William McKinley High School.

It has been widely reported that Brody will act as a mentor to Rachel and a possible love interest. Dean has been cast as a regular on the musical series and is expected to feature in each of season four's 22 episodes.

Geyer, 26, was born in Johannesburg but moved to Australia in 2001 where he completed his high school studies in Melbourne. He also started a band in his final year of high school.

In 2006 he came third in Australian Idol and in 2007 he released his first album titled Rush.

He also starred in long-running Australian soapie Neighbours from 2008-2009.

His most recent screen role was as the character Mark Reynolds in the Steven Spielberg-produced TV series Terra Nova, which was cancelled this year after one season.

Fans will be able to see Dean's Glee debut when season 4 premieres in the US on Fox on 13 September.
