Cape Town - SABC1 and the popular live-streaming South African music website, SkyRoomLive.com, have teamed up to launch a new live music show.

The show, which has been titled SkyRoomLive, will start airing on 16 February at 22:00, and will feature one of the first 26 live concerts which will be aired on the channel.

All other shows in the series will be aired live, but the first episode is said to have been pre-recorded.

'Current and relevant'

SkyRoomLive.com, which has gained popularity for streaming live concerts from artists such as The Parlotones, Daniel Beddingfield, Jack Parow and HHP online, recently partnered up with SABC1 to produce the concept of a series for South African television.

After their first live broadcast in February 2012, the site has boasted more than 325 000 views and has been ranked under the Top 50 live streaming sites, according to IRocke.com.

SABC1's publicity manager, Vukile Madlala, has said that they are excited to bring viewers a new concept that is "current and relevant to today's progressive society".

While viewers can tune in at home to watch the series, it has also been announced that tickets will be sold via Computicket to attend the live shows.
