Los Angeles - Shakira quit The Voice for the sake of her family.
The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker - who has four-month-old son Milan with soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique - has confirmed she is stepping down from her role as a coach on the US talent show after just one series to focus on her personal life and music career, but hasn't ruled out a return in the future.
She told Usmagazine.com: "I'm not going to be able to do next season because I have to get back to my motherhood and also get back to the studio, the recording studio, to finish my album, the one that I started working on before I had to deliver a baby and before I took this gig with The Voice.
"So yeah, I have to take a little break. But you never know, I might come back!"
'More miles than any pilot!'
Shakira admitted she had taken the decision because all the travelling she had to do for the show had been hard on her son.
She said: "It was a hard decision for me to make, because I'm really fond of the coaches, the people in production and everybody around me. And I really enjoyed The Voice, but I also have a musical career and I'm also a mother now and my poor baby's so tired flying such long distances.
"He already has more miles than any pilot! So I think I have to give him a little break, and we'll see what happens in the future."
'Working on a deal'
It has also been speculated that Usher will leave the show, and while host Carson Daly confirmed Christina Aguilera will be returning to the panel in Shakira's place, he admitted there was no definite news on whether Cee Lo Green will also be back.
Quizzed on the rumours, he said: "I don't know. I think they are working on a deal to be honest with you, and I don't think it has been finalised.
"I don't know the answer to that. It wouldn't surprise me if it was, sooner or later. It sounded like today it was like, 'Yeah, they are working on it,' which, usually those things work out, but I don't know."
