Simon Cowell auditions for Britain's Got Talent

Los Angeles - Simon Cowell auditioned for Britain's Got Talent at the weekend.

The show boss was shocked when a taxi driver with the same name as him turned up to the auditions in Belfast, northern Ireland, on Saturday.

The music mogul told the contestant: "I've always wanted to meet me.'"

The cabbie replied: "I've always wanted to meet me too, although I didn't think I'd be this frightened."

The wannabe star sung his heart out in front of the panel, which includes Simon, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden, but was given the boot from the show because his vocal ability didn't appear to be up to scratch.

After he'd finished singing, David joked: "Well you definitely have more talent than this Simon Cowell."

The Syco boss added: ''I never thought I would say this. Simon Cowell, it's a 'No.’

Meanwhile, Simon who is expected to welcome his first child into the world with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman next month isn't interested in hearing a sob story from hopefuls in this year's competition because he's sick of the drama.

He said: "I am bored of them."

However, it appears it's not just the contestants that need to change their ways as the 54-year-old star kept the other judges waiting at the auditions while he went in search of a snack.
