London – Simon Cowell has told ITV chiefs that he will not be a judge on the UK X Factor this year, reports Daily Mail.
Cowell reportedly said that filming both the US and British versions of the show at the same time would be too much.
ITV bosses reportedly offered to fly Cowell in a private jet to do both the shows, but according to a close friend, Cowell is concerned for his own health.
After much speculation an ITV insider confirmed on Monday that Cowell will no longer be a judge, because "the balancing act is just not feasible.
"So what will happen now is that Cowell will likely make an appearance towards the end of the UK series and appear at the final. ITV was really trying to get him to stay on the UK show... it just won’t be the same without him."
The series will reportedly run between August and December, which is exactly when the US version will run.
An ITV spokesperson said plans for this year’s X Factor ‘will be announced in due course’.
