Cape Town – Chantelle Gertse only realised that her contract at M-Net Soap Binnelanders had been terminated when she read the script and noticed that he character had been written out.
Gertse who played nurse Veronica in the soap opera says she is shocked and disappointed at the way in which the producers, Elsje and Frederich Stark, handled the termination of her contract.
"How can you tell me on my last day of work that my contract has not been renewed? It's not right," she said.
Difficult
Gertse arrived at work two weeks ago and started studying the script for the day's shooting.
"Then I read that Veronica will be going to work for another doctor… When we finished shooting the scene, I went to ask Elsje what was going on. She told me that I was no longer needed. I would not have renewed my contract anyway, but my goodness!"
According to a source Gertse was difficult to work with.
Ernst Swart, publicity officer for Binnelanders, confirmed the termination of Gertse's contract: "Management considered their decision in order to minimalise risks. They are acting in accordance with the letter and the spirit of the contract."
