Sony Max goes spooky for Halloween

Cape Town -  If you love haunted houses, trick-or-treating, playing pranks, telling scary stories and watching horror films then there’s only one channel to tune into in October and that’s Sony Max (DStv Channel 128).

The station will not only be celebrating the spirit of Halloween on October 31 but offering the best Halloween entertainment throughout the month with some of the best scary and goofy shows and movies. It’s the home of television entertainment during Halloween!

As a special Halloween weekend treat, Sony Max is screening the entire first season of the hit psychological drama series Hannibal over three nail-biting nights. Season One starts on Halloween night on Friday, October 31, at 22h00 and continues on Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2, in the same time slot.

Mads Mikkelsen stars as Thomas Harris’s fictional character Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter but in the psychopathic killer’s younger years, before the events in Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs catapulted him to notoriety. English actor Hugh Dancy plays Special Agent Will Graham. This gifted young FBI criminal profiler seeks Dr Lecter’s help in tracking down serial killers, little suspecting that his mentor is one himself. Hannibal has been described as “deliciously dark” and “Sherlock meets Dexter with a side order of cannibalism” so don’t miss the opportunity to binge-watch the chilling first season!

If you like your Halloween entertainment a little lighter don’t miss the second season of Freakshow every Tuesday  at 21h00. If you thought the carnival freak show was an antiquated concept that had long died out, you would be wrong. It’s alive and well and thriving in Venice Beach, California, where Todd Ray has opened up his home to people and animals that are truly one of a kind.

Curiosities include a two-headed bearded dragon, a giant, a human pin cushion, a bearded lady, sword swallowers and one of the most tattooed and pierced individuals in the world. Here different is the new normal.

The channel will also be airing the second season of Hole in the Wall every Monday at 18h10. This television sensation originated in Japan and has now been adapted into an American series which has become a ratings hit worldwide. In the wacky show, two teams, consisting of three players each, must twist and contort themselves to fit through odd-shaped cut-outs in a succession of large, moving Styrofoam walls – without breaking them or falling into a water-filled pool below. The aim is to win a cash prize but ultimately it’s all about having silly fun – just like Halloween!
