Johannesburg - After two intense days of boot camp training and various mentorship sessions the TLC Next Great Presenter top 3 have been chosen.

As of Wednesday, 28 October, viewers will have the opportunity to choose TLC’s Next Great Presenter by voting for their favourite from the three finalists.

The lucky winner will be the channel’s first-ever African presenter and host TLC TOP 10 – a brand new four-part series coming to TLC Entertainment (DStv 172) this December.

Meet the top 3

Mpiwa Bagwasi – Gaborone, Botswana

"For me it started with a dream and I was fortunate enough to find this opportunity which validated that dream. I’m extremely excited that TLC is giving Africans the opportunity to be recognised. Being at boot camp validated that I am indeed on the right path. This has been an amazing experience from the workshops to the judge’s feedback as well as the practical sessions and I’m thrilled that the best of what we learnt paid off in the end," says Mpiwa.

Star Khulu – Johannesburg, South Africa

"I can’t believe I’ve made it through boot camp. I feel so privileged to have been selected as one of the three finalists and have the opportunity to represent South Africa. TLC is all about celebrating real people and that is everything I’ve fought to be. I truly hope that Africa votes for me to become TLC’s Next Great Presenter and put this amazing continent on the map," says Star.

David Mbeha – Windhoek, Namibia

"I am excited to be selected as one of the top 3 by a brand that unapologetically celebrates difference and tells authentic stories. Throughout this whole process TLC has allowed me to be me and I thank them for that. This experience has been humbling and rewarding and I thank everyone for their support so far and I look forward to the next stage."

Head judge, Lee Hobbs, VP of Channels for Emerging Business, Discovery Networks CEEMEA says "The 12 semi-finalists were extremely talented and proved that they are all capable of having a successful career in the entertainment industry. The decision was tough and the judging panel spent hours deliberating as everyone was so amazing.

"In the end, we chose our top 3 finalists based on their passion for TLC and how they came alive on camera. It’s now out of our hands, as the final decision will be left to our TLC viewers. We can’t wait crown our first African presenter!"

Voting will open on 28 October and close on 18 November. To vote for your favourite, visit the TLC Next Great Presenter website or follow TLC_Africa on WeChat.
