TV obsession of the week: Gotham

Cape Town – For all the Batman fans there’s a new series starting that will take you right to the beginning.

Gotham tells the story of Bruce Wayne before he became Batman!

The new series premieres express from the US on Wednesday, 24 September at 01:00 on M-Net. If that’s a bit too early for you, you can Catch Up online or watch it on Tuesday 30 September at 20:30 on M-Net.

What it’s about:

Before there was Batman, Detective James Gordon guarded the streets of Gotham. Alongside his partner Harvey Bullock he has to solve the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. Detective Gordon takes a young Bruce Wayne under his wings and becomes his mentor.




The villains:

Because this is a prequel we get to see all the classic villains heroes evolve. Expect to see the future Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman and Joker.



But there is a brand new villian too see too. Jada Pinkett Smith taps into her dark side to play Fish Mooney. Her character was specifically created for the show.



Who stars in it?

Ben McKenzie stars as James Gordon, his partner Harvey Bullock is played by Donal Logue.



Beloved butler Alfred Pennyworth is played by Sean Pertwee.

The young Bruce Wayne is played by David Mazouz.

The Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot will be played by Rodin Lord Taylor and Clare Foley is Ivy Pepper, based on the character Poison Ivy and Camren Bicondova plays Selina Kyle the future Catwoman.
