Cape Town – After having added no new major TV channels since its launch in May 2010, TopTV and Discovery are getting ready to dump Discovery Travel & Living on channel 453 on On Digital Media's TopTV platform at the end of August.
Although not communicated to the press or subscribers, Channel24 understands that the dumped Discovery Travel & Living is getting removed to be replaced on the same channel number by TLC, which originally stood for The Learning Channel.
The Learning Channel is also owned by Discovery Networks similar to Discovery Travel & Living.
Discovery Travel & Living is one of three channels operated by Discovery Networks International on TopTV together with Discovery Science and ID: Investigation Discovery. TLC will reportedly have a whole new schedule.
In several countries over the past two years Discovery Networks has been phasing out Discovery Travel & Living, replacing it with TLC.
The first real international replacing exercise happened in March 2010 in Norway after which the same channel change started happening in different territories across the world.
