TopTV: No comment on affair ads

Cape Town – TopTV has no comment on broadcasting adulterous advertisements for AshleyMadison.com, encouraging married people to have extramarital affairs.

Asked on Tuesday whether TopTV has any comment, response or statement regarding advertising a dating service for married people to have affairs, the struggling South African pay-TV operator responded on Wednesday saying "no comment".

The TV commercials have been declined by all the other South African broadcasters who have been approached by the company responsible for the adverts, who said on Tuesday that they're simply "thrilled" that their advertisements are on TopTV.

The dating company said: "We are thrilled with the air time we have on TopTV" after other South African broadcasters have "simply refused to show it".

"TopTV is the only broadcaster that sold advertising space" for their controversial TV commercial, said the dating company in a statement.

According to Diva Marketing, who issued the statement on behalf of AshleyMadison.com, the advertisements will be airing on TopTV until 11 November.

Struggling

The struggling pay-TV operator which warned creditors that it might no longer be in a position to pay its debt, has entered "business rescue".

TopTV is now urgently looking for a new equity investment partner who would be able to funnel additional millions into the pay-TV venture which started its commercial broadcasting operations in May 2010.

In the advertisement currently on the "family friendly" pay-TV operator, a woman and man are seen climbing into bed and kissing before the caption reads: "This couple is married. But not to each other."

This is followed by the company's slogan: "Life is short. Have an affair."
