Cape Town - Fake it ‘til you make it. Seems like anyone can be a rich kid these days. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* (Read: Was that SA rich kid a fake?)
Not one to be outdone by others, Channel24 decided to slap together our own little episode of "look how rich I am" as seen on TV.
Of course we’re not rolling in it (because we’re poor journos) but that’s never stopped us before.
We set ourselves a goal. Can you fake being rich to (for some unknown reason) impress people you’ve never met?
The answer? Hell yeah.
Here’s what you need:
A camera phone.
A shopping mall close to where you live.
A good knowledge of Instagram filters.
Here’s what you need to do:
Take photos of the items as seen in our pics below.
Slap on an Instagram filter and add an annoying caption
BOOM you’re fake rich. (That’s it really)
See if we fooled you:
Go to your local department store (Edgars) and take a picture of a designer handbag.
Every rich kid needs a designer wallet to keep their moola in! Play it cool in the Louis Vuitton store when you snap this pic.
Looks like Rome right? We took this picture from our office in Cape Town.
Have coffee at a luxury car dealership and casually take a snap of this sweet ride.
An expensive timepiece is a must. Take a picture at a TAG Heuer store.
When dropping your friend off at the airport for his flight to Jozi with Kulula snap a pic of an international aeroplane and pretend you're going on vacay.
Last note:
We learned one thing from this exercise: Money can’t buy happiness.
