Johannesburg - Following three freaky seasons, the struggling sci-fi series Under The Dome is finally coming to an end. The cancellation was confirmed by CBS on Monday.
"Two years ago, Under The Dome broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world," CBS Entertainment Chair, Nina Tassler told media.
"We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the dome coming down as dramatically as it went up."
The series, which is nearing it’s season-three finale on 10 September in the US, comes to a close following dwindling ratings through the show’s last two seasons.
Fortunately, show creators have promised fans that the third season’s final episode will answer all those burning questions keeping us awake at night.
Despite the imminent finale, Nina dropped an interesting tease, opening up the possibility of a spin-off series. "Well, what I’ll tell you is the dome is coming down at the end of this (third) season, but that opens up a host of other storytelling opportunities."
The third and final season is currently airing on M-Net Edge.
