Cape Town – Popular local soapie Isidingo raised some eyebrows this week with their latest storyline which strikes several similarities to that of the Oscar Pistorius case.
In recent episodes of the show a young athlete, Bradley Haines (played by Izak Davel), is portrayed as being absolutely obsessed with guns and paranoid about crime in South Africa.
In one scene Haines hears a noise and fires four shots in the dark, accidentally killing his father.
According to an article published in the Cape Argus on Tuesday the show’s producers are adamant that "the timing is a coincidence".
Oscar Pistorius is currently on trial for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp who he shot dead on 14 February 2013.
Several fans of the show also noticed the glaring similarities between Isidingo’s storyline and the real life drama.
"Your current line of play which is identical to the Oscar Pistorius case is just not right. You're stretching things too far,(sic)" Wandile Nondzaba Bangisi wrote on the TV shows Facebook page.
Another fan of the show, Nelie Davids, wrote: "Bradley Haines...is he another oscar pistorius?(sic)."

Isidingo had not released an official statement by the time of publishing this article. Several requests for feedback went unanswered.
