We had a quick interview with a local 12-year-old girl about her role in hit BBC drama

Cape Town – The BBC drama Our Girl completed filming in Cape Town in March.

The drama tells the story of an 18 year old girl, Molly Dawes, played by Lacey Turner, who decides to join the British Army after finding her life going nowhere.

12-year-old Durban local Rebecca Eggersglusz made her acting debut and we recently had an interview with Rebecca who gave us the scoop on the show.

Channel24:
"Is this your first time starring in a TV show?"

Rebecca:
"Yes. I have never acted before, this was my first time and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed being on TV and being part of telling a story. It was pretty awesome."

Channel24:
"How did you land the role of Bashira and what is her character like?"

Rebecca:
"I was asked to audition by GO Big Productions. I did an audition on camera for the director. He then came to meet me and another girl and asked us questions on camera. I was cast then and there; it was so scary and exciting!"

Rebecca told us more about her character: "Bashira is strong and brave. Being a girl she has had a tough upbringing living in Afghanistan."

Channel24:
"What did you enjoy most about being on the show?"

Rebecca:
"I enjoyed meeting all the actors from Britain. I felt like their little sister, they were all so nice to me and made me feel comfortable in front of the cameras. I also felt very comfortable working with the director Anthony Philipson, he was very nice." She continues, "And being treated like royalty was a bonus," she adds with a smile.

Channel24
"Did anything funny or embarrassing happen during filming?"

Rebecca:
"I was so embarrassed when my dad, who chaperoned me on set started crying in front of everyone when I had just finished shooting one of my scenes. I could have died!"

Channel24
"Do you dream of ever winning an Oscar and who would you thank in your speech?"

Rebecca:
"I have thought more of pursuing acting than actually winning an Oscar, but if I had to win an Oscar I would thank the director, my fellow cast members and my family." She adds, "Acting is a great experience, and I would like to try it again sometime."
