We rate Tyra Banks’ Daytime Emmy Awards outfits

accreditation

Johannesburg - This week, businesswoman, supermodel and creator of the smize – smiling with your eyes – hosted the 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards. She set herself a goal of eight outfit changes, but didn’t manage all of them. We rate the looks that made an appearance.

HOT Tyra opted for a sleek, black jumpsuit for her walk on the red carpet. All her looks were designed by Bryan Hearns, who she says does “futuristic businesswoman” looks.

Her black jumpsuit with structured collar and see-through overlay over the arms and chest was a supersexy stylish look. It also looked great with her new pixie cut. This was one of her best looks of the night.

NOT The bodysuit and sheer overlay was very Peter Pan and her worst look of the night. The hemline stopped at a strange length at the knee and the tailored jacket detail on the collar looked out of place. The sparkly embellishments on the side were confusing and seemed to end in midair with the hemline. A look that seemed to have been made in a hurry, it shouldn’t have happened.

HOT The second black jumpsuit was another winner. The deep V-neck and the simple, long silhouette made for another superhot look. The cape had all the right ingredients of drama. Fabulous, daaaaahling!

HOT Banks’ only dress for the evening was a great one. The one-sleeve look could have gone pear- shaped, but it managed to work because of the overall simplicity of the dress. The mid-calf-length pencil skirt hem gave the dress a gorgeous fit long enough to be glam without looking like just another long, red dress. The cut-outs on the elbows and shoulder were unnecessary – but nevertheless, it was a good look.

NOT Banks’ tan wide-leg jumpsuit had all the right elements, but ended up looking like a costume piece from Star Trek. The colour was pretty dull and, although the leather bustier bodice tried to inject some excitement, it got lost in all that overwhelming boredom. The garment itself was well tailored and would have looked fab in a more vibrant colour, such as electric blue or fuchsia, but like this it falls flat.
