Whitney Houston's family get reality show

Los Angeles - Whitney Houston's family are to star in their own reality show.

The late singer's daughter Bobbi Kristina, mother Cissy, sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, Pat's daughter Rayah and The Bodyguard actress' brother Gary will all feature in the programme entitled The Houston Family Chronicles, which has been picked up by Lifetime.

The series will show Whitney's family as they face the world without the I Will Always Love You hitmaker, who was found dead in a bath tub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in February.

'Guiding Bobbi Kristina'

The network says the show - which will also feature Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick and CeCe Winans, who dueted with the singer on her hit track Count On Me - will join the family "as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother."

Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime Networks, said in a statement: "The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family.

"In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow."

Pat revealed she has been working with Simmons Shelley on a similar project, but Whitney's untimely death has changed the "direction" of their intended show.

She said in a statement: ''I have been working with Simmons Shelley over the past few years developing a project suitable for myself and our family.

"The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show. However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward."

Lifetime plans to screen 10 episodes of The Houston Family Chronicles, which will air at some point later this year.
