X Factor role would be easy for Britney

Los Angeles - Simon Cowell believes a judging role on the US X Factor would be a "walk in the park" for Britney Spears.

The music mogul thinks the 30-year-old singer - who has sons Sean Preston, six, and Jayden James, five, with ex-husband Kevin Federline - would be an ideal judge on the talent show because she has "resilience" after juggling her music and family life throughout her career.

He said: "I'm fascinated by [Britney.] The fact that she's one of the most talked about - not just pop stars - but people in the world today, means that you've got this star power.

"This girl has got resilience. I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, [X Factor would be] a walk in the park.

More emphasis on singers

"I would be fascinated to hear what she had to say. She's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial, there's a reason for that."

As well as Britney, Simon believes Janet Jackson - who has been linked with a position on the X Factor judging panel - would be a "good" addition to the series.

He added: "Would she be a good judge? Yes."

Simon also revealed the US X Factor is set to undergo a format change this year, which will see "more emphasis" on the wannabe singers.

Speaking on The Billy Bush Show, he explained: "We're making a new show this year. We have to put much more emphasis on the contestants this year."
