Johannesburg - 17-year-old Shekhinah Donnell has been eliminated from the eighth season of Idols SA.

This year's youngest contestant was revealed as the singer with the least amount of votes from the last round of performances.

The Top 6 contestants were divided into three groups during Tuesday's elimination show where Shekhinah and Monde were grouped together.

After the results were read, Shekhinah performed Lady Gaga's Marry the Night in hope of winning the judges' save. Her efforts were unsuccessful.

Shekhinah has gone back to school to write her exams now that she is out of the competition.

The Top 5 - Melissa, Tshidi, Khaya, Simphiwe and Monde - will perform at the Mosaïek Teatro on Friday 7 September and the episode will air on Sunday 9 September.

Idols airs on M-Net and Mzansi Magic on Sundays at 17:30.
