Amanda du-Pont’s Got This!

Johannesburg - When actress and presenter Amanda du-Pont’s Skeem Saam character Lelo was sentenced to 15 years of jail time in November 2015, many of her fans had to settle for her field reporting on Real Goboza or her constant supply of Instagram posts to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous actress.

But now Amanda has sunk her teeth into something completely different and every time you go shopping you may see a poster or two of her in her Adidas kit looking summer ready.

Adidas has launched a new women’s campaign entitled I Got This featuring Amanda, just in time for the holiday season. The campaign taps into the insight that active women are always on, and committed to their training routines all year round.

We had a quick chat with Amanda about the campaign, how she stays in shape and everything else.

How did you become part of the campaign?

Adidas is a brand I have always loved and was a loyal consumer of it both in fitness and originals range. The team contacted me and I guess loved what I was doing with the brand in terms of fashion and fitness. A relationship formed where they have literally become family. After some time they contacted me to do their campaign. I'm still blown away that such a huge international brand sees potential in me. God is real.

Why did you join the campaign?

I have a story to tell. I have overcome weight issues. I was epileptic and have since changed my life, through fitness, to a point where I no longer need medication. Health is wealth! I also love the brand. It only made sense too. I live and breathe it.

What part of the campaign resonates strongest with you?

The fact that I shot this campaign with my natural hair and had no photoshop. I love that the brand identifies with real people. It focuses on strength and pushing yourself to the next level and this applies to my daily life.

How does working out help in your everyday life?

It releases endorphins so I'm generally happier. Working out has improved my health so much that I no longer have to rely on medication for my epilepsy.

How do you squeeze it in with all the TV gigs you have?

It's tough. Honestly when I'm busy I don't get to work out much. Shooting schedules can be hectic with little rest time. But my motto is something is always better than nothing so when I do have days off...I make sure I'm either at the gym or Sandton fight club without fail.

Speaking of which, you won’t be taking a break from training this December, but you’ve taken a break off-screen. Tell us about that decision and when fans can expect to see you back on Skeem Saam?

I really needed the break. Honestly I say this was Gods plan more than mine because I don't know how to stop working. I put my heart and soul into the Lelo character to a point where I was taking her home and this is dangerous as an actor. One needs to be able to step away and know the difference between the two. I am fully rested and ready to give the viewers more. But I cannot disclose much

Plus you’re shooting a feature film we hear – how’s that working out for you so far and can you elaborate a little bit on the project?

Yes I shot a short film which is part of an incredible protect the NFVF is doing to empower women. It was one of 10 features that will be released worldwide at international film festivals. Films are my first love and I'm so excited for people to see it. God has been great and His grace is sufficient.

Be spiritually, mentally and physically fit?????? @sandton_fight_club keeps me on my A1????
