Blockbuster shows headed to e.tv screens

Johannesburg - The lavish Montecasino in Joburg came alive when Mzansi stars graced the red carpet to witness terrestrial television channel e.tv unveil its summer shows.

The big moment came when new shows were screened in the luxurious cinema.

Those who love world-class crime drama series Power, and US buddy cop action-comedy-drama Lethal Weapon will be delighted to know that these will grace our screens.

SA’s Got Talent is one of the e.tv shows that will be aired on Sundays, to challenge fan favourite reality shows such as Our Perfect Wedding and movie-turned-series iNumber Number on Mzansi Magic.

They will be competing for audiences’ attention on Sunday with SABC1 drama series Tjovitjo and Idols SA.

Other newcomers include comedy-drama Easy Money and new action-adventure series MacGyver which promise to keep viewers glued to their seats.

Later, guests were invited to dinner and left the cinema for the bar.

As it should be, celebrities outnumbered the journalists.

Almost all celebs who appear on the channel were in the building, from young stars such as Nomvelo Makhanya from Scandal! to veteran actor Meshack Mavuso of Rhythm City.

Stars of drama series Broken Vows, music show Club 808, Easy Money and the station’s managing director Marlon Davids also graced the event.

Fortunately, there were no speeches, and the celebration did not disappoint as the noise eventually got louder than the music.

Actress Jo-Anne Reyneke and her bae, former Generations actor Thami Mngqolo stood next to the bar throughout the evening, as if competing for something.

Unfortunately, organisers closed the bar early, forcing everyone to leave in a sulk.
