Everything you need to know about The Voice SA season 2

Cape Town – The Voice SA returns for a second season on Sunday, 29 January at 17:30 on M-Net (Dstv 101).

Season 1 of the popular reality singing competition launched the career of 10 singers who received recording contracts from Universal Music South Africa.

The accolades don't stop there though, winner Richard Stirton and runner-up Gavin Edwards' singles debuted at the number 1 spot on iTunes and stayed there for consecutive weeks.

In the run up to the premiere of the show here's what you need to know.

What stays the same?

All four coaches of the Voice SA is back. Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira, Karen Zoid and Kahn Morbee will battle it out to win over the best talent and then nurture and mentor them to get them to the final.

Lungile Radu will return as host and Stacey Norman as V-reporter.

What has changed?

More episodes – the series has been extended from 18-24 episodes and will be an half an hour shorter.

Rewind! – episode one will be a recap of the first season. There will be interviews with the coaches and a catch up with past talent.

From 14 to 12 – this season there will be smaller teams. This time around the coaches will choose 12 singers and only take four to the live rounds.

A whole new round - after the battle round the coaches will be left with 8 talent each. In the Knockout round two singers will compete against each other performing a song of their own choice.

The Blind Auditions will kick off from Sunday, 5 February at 17:30 on M-Net (Dstv 101).
