Here's why you should be watching The Crown

Johannesburg - Many of us see Queen Elizabeth as a harmless old lady who waves a lot.

The story of Elizabeth II, however, who came to the crown at the age of 25, is an interesting and cut-throat one. Netflix’s new 10-episode series looks at Elizabeth’s early reign, including her marriage to Prince Philip as well as her relationship with the domineering, war-hardened Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

News.com.au has said: “This is big-league television – the kind of ambitious and exuberant project that will be talked about in years to come.”

The New York Times calls it “a thoughtful series that lingers over death rather than using it for shock value; one that finds its story lines in small power struggles rather than gruesome palace coups”.
