Johannesburg - We went to #BBCWUpfront to find out what new and returning shows will be keeping us warm this winter.
What it's about:
BBC Worldwide presented it's #BBCWUpfront, sharing new and exciting international and local programmes commissioned for the BBC platform: BBC Lifestyle, BBC Brit, BBC First, BBC Earth and CBeebies.
The Stig and new presenter Chris Harris attended the event to help launch the new Top Gear.
Fishing Impossible stars Blowfish and Charlie Butcher also came along to celebrate the new original commission for BBC Worldwide.
Highlights:
*Series 23 of Top Gear returns with new hosts Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc. The series will be crammed full of fresh twists and excitement, along with familiar features like the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, and, of course The Stig. It will premiere on Wednesday, 1 June at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv 120)
*An entertaining new fishing series fronted by three fanatics who embark on the ultimate extreme fishing trip across the globe. Fishing Impossible premieres on Wednesday 25th May at 21:00 on BBC Brit (DStv 120).
* Period drama War and Peace a bold and modern take on one of the most famous and epic stories of all time premieres on Sunday 26 June at 20:00 on BBC Brit (DStv 120).
*The Great SA Bake Off returns for season 2. The show will be filmed in Johannesburg and back on screens in the summer.
* An exciting new series, Pressure Cooker, reflects the real-life pressures of cooking at home when time is tight and ingredients are scarce. The show premieres on Tuesday 28 June at 20:00 on BBC Lifestyle (DStv 174).
* Ice People: Life on the Edge charts the real-life highs and lows of its quirky inhabitants in a town in Svalbard. The show premieres in August on BBC Earth (DStv 184).
* Dickensian is a bold reinvention of Charles Dickens’ timeless novels, where his most iconic characters live side by side in the same Victorian neighbourhood. The show premieres in August on BBC First (DStv 119).
