Idols SA: The last two standing

Cape Town – This season of Idols SA has by far been one of the more entertaining ones.

It started out with the Gareth Cliff vs M-Net drama, then the judges surprised us by choosing only 4 girls in the top 10, voting records were broken, there were shock eliminations and last but not least a very talented bunch of contestants.

Last week Gareth announced that he is leaving the show after 12 seasons. I'll be honest I am going to miss him; he's one of the judges who always kept it real.

Enough of the feelings fest, Noma and Thami are the last contestants standing.

This year they decided to switch things up and let each of the Top 3 perform their single.

Here’s what people who took the poll on Twitter thought:

Noma

Noma kicked of the show with her winner's single, Want It to Fell Like It Did with You. Sjoe, I'm a bit confused with this choice of song for her. I get that they want to show off a different side to her voice and to try something new but I just don’t think this song fits her voice at all. Let me be honest, ballads are what Noma does best! Why fix something if it ain't broke? I wish they had given her something more soulful, something that she could show off her range. But alas, sigh.

Watch her performance here:

As for her other two performances she did was she does best. I really don’t think that any comments the judges make now will affect any voting. I really, really want Noma to win. And not just because she's a female she's a great singer too. I think she has been consistent throughout the performance, she has worked hard and she sings with genuine emotion. And it's about time SA had a female Idols winner!

Thami

The song gods have really worked in Thami's favour. His single, Sthandwa ticks all the right boxes and is already a favourite among viewers. It suits his voice perfectly, and he doesn't have to versing which he is prone to.  Do I like it? It's okay, it's exactly the kind of thing that will get a lot of radio airtime.

Watch his performance here:

As for his other two performances he did what he usually does, some screaming, some vocal gymnastics and yes there was also some off notes. I don’t stan for Thami and ya'll know that by now, he just doesn't move me, his singing lacks real emotion and I just cannot connect with him as a singer. But he is a firm favourite with viewers and I'm sad to say he might just win it.

Last words: My heart wants Noma to win but sadly my head says Thami will be crowned the winner.
