Johannesburg - Kgomotso Christopher recently went from being a series veteran on Isidingo to a Scandal! newcomer overnight as Yvonne Thebe, but the "new kid on the soapie block" ran into some old friends on set.
"Like all first days, it was jarring because of the new kid and orientation-week effect. You’re still getting lost walking from the canteen to your dressing room.
"Finding your way around the studios...I still get lost because different sets are in different studios," she admits. "That aside, I am familiar with Sasani Studios because that’s where I have worked for the past few years" - it’s where Isidingo filmed after moving out of their old SABC studios.
Kgomotso says she was also familiar with a lot of faces in the crew from when the originally worked on Isidingo and other soapies. "In some sense it’s a reunion. I worked with our Creative Producer Ms Grace Mahlaba as a young actress years ago on Backstage (Kgomotso has a small role in 2001) . The familiar faces have made the transition easy, and the actors, crew and production team I am getting to know have been nothing but warm and welcoming. I couldn’t be happier," says Kgomotso.
Kgomotso debuts as Scandal!’s Yvonne on Thursday 30 June.
