kykNET drama renewed for a second season

Cape Town - On Tuesday evening social media platforms were abuzz as viewers shared their comments after the final episode of the kykNET drama, Sara se Geheim

Over the past 13 weeks viewers have been glued to their screens as the stories of two families, seemingly worlds apart but connected by a lie, unfolded on DStv 144.

kykNET can now confirm a second season of this popular drama is currently in pre-production. 

“The program has been a deeply moving experience for viewers.” according to Anneke Villet, Commissioning Editor for Sara se Geheim

“The universal themes of love, sacrifice, loss, scandal and lies spoke to a broad spectrum of viewers both young and old. Season two will reveal even more secrets. Sara’s biggest secret threatens to be revealed while Johan and Nicola’s marriage falls apart. The struggles of Maggie is far from over and Astonia’s rape case plays out in court.”

Producer Roberta Durrant from Penguin Films confirmed that the writers are busy with the scripts and they hope to start filming in Cape Town in October 2017. 

Viewers will however have to wait until 2018 for the second season to air on kykNET. 

More drama coming

The drama on Tuesdays will continue on kykNET with Die Boekklub kicking off on Tuesday, 11 July at 20:00. 

Also currently in production is the drama Waterfront that is being filmed in Cape Town. This is a co-production between kykNET and Showmax and will air on both kykNET (DStv channel 144) and Showmax in October 2017. 

A new Paul C. Venter drama (Knapse Kêrels) is also currently in pre-productionin in Gauteng. Cast announcements will be made shortly. The programme will be directed by Human Stark (Terug, Vlug na Egipte).
