Cape Town - Lady Gaga isn’t holding back about her life in an upcoming documentary which premieres on Netflix later this month.

CNN reports that the documentary raises awareness about chronic illness, with Gaga recently revealing she battles fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterised by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, as well as sleep, memory and mood issues.

Researchers believe fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals.

The pop star shared her condition, this week with followers on Twitter, saying, "I wish to help raise awareness & connect people who have it."

The documentary titled Five Foot Two will give insight into Gaga’s life, as viewers learn more about her illness.

"It's hard but it's liberating too," Lady Gaga said in an interview with Variety.com

Apparently this isn’t the first time she’s commented on her issue with pain.

In an Instagram post last year, the singer wrote, "Having a frustrating day with chronic pain, but I find myself feeling so blessed to have such strong, intelligent female doctors."
