Local Afrikaans TV channel looking for online stars

Cape Town - A hot new project titled Wat Maak Jy? (What Are You Up To?) launched on VIA (DStv channel 147) on Tuesday and is looking for SA's vlogger talent.

As part of the project VIA is searching for Afrikaans video stars and, at the same time, is offering Afrikaans vloggers a marketing platform.

The local TV channel has joined forces with 20 Afrikaans digital video-makers, vloggers and other social-media personalities.

This team will each create five exclusive videos that will appear on the TV channel as well as VIA’s Facebook page and YouTube channel over the next three months.

The group will serve as inspiration for aspiring video-makers and as VIA ambassadors for this three-month period.

With Wat Maak Jy? (WMJ) VIA invites the entire South Africa to share their unique talents, perspectives, moments and hobbies with the world.

Young, old and everyone in-between can send in their videos. Until the end of October, the VIA team will reward their favourite video of the week with R5 000.

To enter, simply make a short video in Afrikaans, upload it to YouTube, Facebook or Instagram and use the hashtag #VIATV and #VIAWMJ. Send the link of your video to info@viatv.co.za.
