Local celebs to heat things up in SA Bake Off tent

Cape Town – Get ready for local celebrities to take on The Great South African Bake Off.

BBC Lifestyle on Tuesday night revealed that it will be airing a special celebrity episode of The Great South African Bake Off.

The battle to crown South Africa’s best celebrity amateur baker will air at the end of the current series, on Tuesday 19 December at 20:00 on BBC  Lifestyle (DStv 174).

CELEBS COMPETING

Radio and television personality and actress Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp, Comedian Chris Forrest, former Mrs. South Africa and Mrs. World Candice Abrahams, lauded singer Timothy Moloi,  TV and Radio personality Mel Bala and Isidingo star Michaella Russell will all compete to claim the coveted title of South Africa’s best celebrity amateur baker.

But can they bake?

RATINGS SUCCESS

The Great South African Bake Off has been a huge ratings success for BBC Lifestyle. The third series which is produced by Rapid Blue and sponsored by Huletts in association with Snowflake, premiered on Tuesday 17 October and impressively pulled in some of the best ratings for the baking competition ever.

BBC Lifestyle sat as the number two international channel on DStv during its transmission. The show has also proved to be a keen topic of discussion on social media with the #SABakeoff hashtag trending on Twitter in South Africa during the premiere episode’s launch.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE CELEBRITY BAKE OFF

This special episode will see six celebrity contestants bake for glory through the three rounds - signature, technical bake and the all-important showstopper, all with a festive theme. All the while their efforts will be scrutinised by the expert judging panel of Zola Nene and Tjaart Walraven.  Anne Hirsch and Lentswe Bhengu also return as presenters.

Who will shine like a star and who will fail to rise to the occasion?
