In 1985, Avery was arrested and spent 18 years in prison for a rape he didn’t commit. Following new technology advancements in DNA testing, he was exonerated in 2003. Two years later while filing a $36m civil lawsuit against the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s department for his wrongful arrest, he was arrested again for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Did the Sheriff’s department frame him or did he really commit the brutal murder?
The special will address some crucial evidence and testimonies that will answer many questions surrounding Steven Avery.
