Netflix cancels The Get Down after first season

Cape Town – Fans of Netflix’s hip-hop inspired drama – The Get Down – will be disappointed to hear that the streaming service has cancelled the show after just one season, according to Variety, Deadline and IndieWire

The show was helmed by Hollywood legend Baz Luhrmann and starred Jaden Smith, Justice Smith and Shameik Moore.

The short-lived programme told the story of a group of teenagers, in The Bronx, in the 1970s. The Get Down was reportedly one of the most expensive shows, for Netflix to make, costing $120 million for the first 12 episodes.
