Ouboet En Wors: Afrikaans comedy combination

Johannesburg - Ouboet En Wors is what happens when Afrikaans entertainment genius Willie Esterhuizen gets flooded by fan requests to bring back his characters and he blends them into one hilarious new comedy project.

Remember married couple Ouboet and Yolanda (Frank Opperman and Sally Campher) from Orkney Snork Nie? Flirty co-workers Wors and Boeboe (Willie and Liane Heyl) from Vetkoekpaleis? And what about dysfunctional husband and wife Wors and Molly (Willie and Lizz Meiring) from Molly En Wors?

They've all grown up (mostly) and have become friends in Ouboet En Wors, which will air on kykNET from October.

"They fit together like a puzzle," explains Willie, who wrote, directs and stars in the new series. "It really was easy to bring them all together into one show – and we're hoping that the audiences will enjoy watching them and laughing with them!"

tvplus popped in at the Johannesburg set recently and got chatting with Liane about reprising her ditzy character.

"Boeboe really hasn't changed much since her waitressing days," says the actress. "She's now a single mom to 20-year-old daughter Dakota – from her first hubby Pelvic. After three husbands, she's still looking for her Mr Right."

But there's also a new character that Orkney fans last saw as a young boy when the sitcom last aired in 1992. Ouboet and Yolanda's son Hendrikke!

He's a young man now, played by Kaz McFadden. "He's a gay hairdresser. He's married to Gert, who loves to bake koeksusters," laughs Kaz, whose character "is flamboyant and changes his hairstyle every single day!"

The characters are all modern-day business owners and expect loads of laughs in shops like Beauty By Boeboe, Fix It Wiff Ouboet and Batteries By Wors.
