President Frank Underwood added to the National Portrait Gallery

Los Angeles — President Francis J. Underwood is sitting pretty at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington.

A painting of the fictional US chief executive, as portrayed by Kevin Spacey in Netflix's political drama House of Cards, was to be unveiled Monday night.

The portrait is a joint project between British artist Jonathan Yeo and the Smithsonian museum, Netflix said. It will be on public display from Wednesday through October.

A Yeo portrait depicting Spacey as Shakespeare's Richard III was part of a retrospective of the artist's work at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

In a move that the savvy Underwood would appreciate, the Washington unveiling was timed to the series' fourth-season debut on 4 March.
