Roswell reboot in the works

Cape Town – The television reboots continue with Roswell announced as the latest revival.

The original series, which aired from 1999 to 2001, starred Shiri Appleby, Jason Behr, Katherine Heigl and Brendan Fehr.

The show followed the lives of four teenagers in a New Mexico town where UFOs were spotted in 1947.

According to Deadline the new reboot will be a reimaging of the original series and will also be based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz.

Variety reports that the new drama will follow the daughter of undocumented immigrants who reluctantly returns to her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico.

When she returns home she discovers that her teenage crush who is now a policeman is an alien who has kept his abilities hidden his whole life. She keeps his secret and the pair investigate his origins but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their romance.

The new show will be written and produced by Carina Adly MacKenzie.
