Cape Town – Walt Disney Company Africa held their annual showcase at the Roodebloem Studios.
Disney Africa presented new and exciting children's content, movie content and television series.
Highlights
*The movies still to be released in the film slate this year include: Queen of Katwe (14 Oct), Dr Strange (4 Nov), Moana (2 Dec) and Rogue One (16 Dec).
*The much anticipated live action of Beauty of the Beast will hit cinemas in April next year. We got a sneak peek of how Mrs Potts and Chip comes to life. All we're allowed to say is that it looks really good.
*Disney’s first long-form series local production, Disney Cookabout premiered on SABC 2 earlier this month it airs Fridays at 15:30. It is a comedic adventure game-show that uses food preparation, cooking and outdoor exploration to showcase local ingredients and a fun-filled approach to healthy eating.
*New shows making its debut on the Disney Channel (DStv 303) are: Adventures in Babysitting (Sep), Stuck in the Middle (Sep) and Elena of Avalor (Oct).
*A third season of the popular Star Wars Rebels has been commissioned. The series is currently in production and is set for a release later this year on Disney XD (DStv 304).
*On Disney Junior (DStv 309 ) the Lion Guard is back from Monday, 26 September at 16:00.
*From ABC Studios comes new Shona Rhimes series Still Star Crossed. Based on the novel by Melinda Taub follows the aftermath of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet and how the feuding families cope with their loss as they try to take over Verona.
