Cape Town – South African actor Greg Melvill-Smith has died.
His agent confirmed that he died on Tuesday night.

The actor, director, writer and voice-over artist has been a familiar face on television with roles in 7de Laan, Isidingo and Binnelanders.
News of the actor's death broke on Twitter on Wednesday morning with condolences from friends, fans and fellow actors pouring in on the social media platform.

He was a founding member and stalwart of SAGA (South African Guild of Actors) and a dedicated supporter of the charity - the Theatre Benevolent Fund.
In a tribute on SAGA's website it says, "a SAGA stalwart and true gentleman of the profession, left us in the late hours of 31 May 2016, succumbing to an illness borne with great dignity. At this difficult time our thoughts go out to Greg’s family as they face the loss of a loving husband and father. "
